How AZS airport pickup works

You book on WhatsApp with a flight number and a destination. We track the flight, meet you in arrivals with a name sign after baggage, and drive your group straight to the hotel or villa at the fixed zone price.

The terminal and the meet point

AZS has open-air, thatched-roof terminals. Most international arrivals clear immigration in Terminal A or B, then collect bags and pass the customs check. The exit funnels everyone through a single corridor into the arrivals area.

Your driver stands in that arrivals area with a printed sign showing your name — the one you gave us on WhatsApp. You do not need airport Wi-Fi, a local SIM or a phone call. Walk out, read the signs, done.

Flight tracking and late flights

We enter your flight number into tracking the day before. If you land 40 minutes early or three hours late, the pickup moves with the aircraft. Waiting time caused by the airline is not billed.

If you miss the flight entirely, message us on WhatsApp with the new flight number. Rebooking the transfer is free as long as we have a vehicle available.

How long it takes to get out

Plan 25 to 45 minutes from wheels down to the arrivals door. Immigration and baggage take most of that. Two or three wide-bodies landing together push it toward an hour — the driver watches the flow and waits.

Child seats

Tell us the child's age and weight when you book. We install infant and booster seats before pickup at no extra cost. On VIP the seats are pre-installed as standard practice; on Standard we confirm availability if you book same-day.

Children do not add to the price. The rate is per vehicle.

Resorts vs villas

All-inclusive resorts have a guarded gate. We drop you at the lobby entrance where the bellman meets the car; some resorts require the driver to register at the gate, which adds two or three minutes.

For villas in Cosón, Samaná town or Sánchez, send the community name and villa number. Several communities need the owner or rental manager to authorize the vehicle in advance — we ask for that when you book so nobody is negotiating at a barrier at midnight.

Payment

Cash in USD or Dominican pesos to the driver at drop-off, or bank transfer before arrival. No prepayment holds the booking — your confirmed WhatsApp message with the written price is the booking.

The price we confirm is the price at drop-off. Drivers do not renegotiate, and there are no airport surcharges added at the curb.

Groups and extra luggage

1–6 passengers ride in an SUV or minivan. 7–14 uses a passenger van (Standard +$20 / VIP +$40 on local zones). Golf bags, surfboards, wheelchairs and strollers are fine — tell us the count so we send the right vehicle instead of guessing.

Why pre-booking matters at AZS

Uber and other app pickups are not permitted inside AZS arrivals. What remains at the curb is the taxi rank, where quotes for the same run typically land 30–50% above these fixed zone rates and are negotiated while you are tired and holding luggage.

A pre-booked private car removes that conversation: the name sign, the written price and the vehicle class are all agreed before you take off.

Step by step, from wheels-down to lobby

One: you send the flight number, the hotel or villa name and the passenger count on WhatsApp, and get the fixed price back in writing. Two: we track the flight, so a delay or a diversion moves the pickup, not the price. Three: you clear immigration and baggage — 25 to 45 minutes at AZS depending on how many aircraft landed with you — and walk out to a driver holding a printed sign with your name.

Four: the car leaves within a few minutes of you reaching it; waiting is already included. Five: you pay at the end of the ride, in dollars or pesos, exactly the number written before you flew. For the flight home the same desk confirms the lobby pickup the day before, using the departure buffer for your zone.

Long-haul drops: Las Galeras and Santo Domingo

Anything past El Limón is a different kind of job. Las Galeras and Playa Rincón are 90–150 minutes out on a road that narrows after Cosón; Santo Domingo and SDQ are 2.5–3 hours on the highway. The car is dispatched earlier, the driver carries water for the whole group, and we build in one comfort stop if you want it.

Prices stay fixed and per vehicle: Las Galeras $129 Standard / $219 VIP, Santo Domingo or SDQ $250 / $349. For the return we leave the lobby 4–4.5 hours before a Las Galeras flight and 5–5.5 hours from the capital.

Night arrivals

Flights landing between 22:00 and 04:00 pay the same fixed rate — there is no night surcharge and no minimum. The hall is thin at that hour, which actually makes the name sign easier to spot: the driver stands directly opposite the customs exit.

If your phone is dead when you land, do not look for Wi-Fi. Walk out and read the signs; the desk already knows your flight number and holds the car until you appear.
