AZS or EPS? El Catey and Arroyo Barril Explained Before You Book Your Transfer

BlogAZS Airport Transfer

AZS and EPS are different airports, not two terminals of the same airport. El Catey–Presidente Juan Bosch uses AZS; Arroyo Barril uses EPS and is described by its operator as a domestic aerodrome. A booking that says only “Samaná airport” needs clarification. This guide identifies the airports; it does not confirm an EPS transfer service or a flight connection.

Match the name and code together

Look for El Catey, Samaná El Catey or Presidente Juan Bosch alongside AZS. Arroyo Barril is a separate airport associated with Samaná, using EPS. The AZS airport information concerns El Catey, not an alternative EPS terminal. The operator’s description of domestic activity does not establish a scheduled flight on your date. Do not select a flight or a pickup just from a regional destination name.

Check the actual flight itinerary

Read the airport code and full name on the current confirmation for each flight. Check the operating carrier or flight provider, reference, local date and time, especially around midnight. If a voucher, message or map uses a different airport, ask the flight provider to resolve the discrepancy before confirming transport. A hotel address in Samaná does not tell you where the aircraft lands. Save the clarified airport details offline.

State the airport explicitly when requesting pickup

Send airport code and name, flight number or the flight provider’s reference, local date, passenger count, luggage and exact accommodation. The airport-pickup booking process explains the existing AZS arrangements. Ask the desk to name the pickup airport in its written response. If your flight uses EPS, request explicit confirmation of whether the journey can be provided, its meeting point and quote; an AZS request is not an EPS booking. Flight tracking is not acceptance of a different airport.

Choose the hotel route only after confirming AZS

Once AZS is confirmed, use the AZS–Las Terrenas route for that destination, the AZS–Santa Bárbara de Samaná route for Samaná town, or the AZS–Las Galeras route where appropriate. These are different destinations, not one Samaná drop-off. Supply the actual property and entrance. Published AZS zone fares and journey descriptions do not become EPS fares or routes merely because both airports are associated with the same region.

Correct a wrong-airport request before travelling

In the existing booking conversation, send the booking name, originally requested airport, actual airport and revised flight details. Explain which journey changes. Obtain a written reply covering availability, pickup location and any revised price before relying on the change. Do not create a second request without explaining the first. If already at an airport, tell the desk which one and stay at a confirmed public meeting point; do not leave to follow an unverified pickup instruction. A replacement vehicle or airport change is not guaranteed.

Verify the departure airport independently

Check the outgoing flight’s airport even if the arrival booking was correct. The return confirmation should name that airport, the final accommodation and the agreed pickup time, planned against the flight provider’s actual deadlines. If one itinerary uses AZS and another EPS, this is a journey between separate airports, not a terminal walk. Confirm any road transport, baggage arrangements and workable timing independently. No connecting service, through-baggage handling or missed-flight protection is established by this guide.

Questions we get on this

Are El Catey and Arroyo Barril different terminals?
No. AZS identifies El Catey–Presidente Juan Bosch; EPS identifies Arroyo Barril. Clarify the airport itself before asking about a terminal or meeting point.
Does an AZS transfer price apply to EPS?
No automatic equivalence is established. Send the actual airport, destination and travel details and obtain confirmation of service availability and price for that specific journey.
What if my confirmation says only “Samaná airport”?
Ask the flight provider for the full airport name and code. Then have the transport desk confirm the same airport in writing before relying on the pickup.
